Fleeting is a double-sided chine-collé etching of dual images of a perched and a flying chickadee. The past few months I have found great joy in observing the birds that feed from the bird feeder outside my house. The chickadee is a small bird that moves quite quickly and never stays in the same spot for too long. Due to their small size and speed, chickadees are somewhat of a rare sight. Chickadees represent this same notion of fleeting happiness and time. I have captured this diminutive bird in both a perched and flying position as to further emphasize this meaning. This print is constructed to resemble window blinds as I observe the birds through the window as to not disturb them. The print is then meant to be folded up, and placed neatly back into the box.

Print Pulse 30 is a national print competition for undergraduate students to highlight print-based studio production across Canada. The exhibition was held at Queen’s University Union Gallery in fall of 2021.
